In the first Cascadian match-up of the season, Lindsey Horan scored what would be the game winning goal against the OL Reign in the 17th minute. Simone Charley, who was a danger throughout the night, would then double the lead within the first minute of the second half. While the score would hold, the Reign came out hard in the second half with both Jess Fishlock and Megan Rapinoe showing their speed and savvy on the ball. The Thorns countered with Crystal Dunn, and a solid backline led by Becky Sauerbrunn, interrupting their flow at every turn. Portland’s Sophia Smith also put in a performance worth noting, showing she’s a serious threat up front.
