The second derby match of the night took place at Lumen Field shortly after the OL Reign defeated their northwest rival – the Portland Thorns. With around 18,000 fans joining the record breaking attendance of the first match, the Seattle Sounders came out to face the Portland Timbers after thumping them in their last match, 6-2.

The game would start out rough, with Timbers mid and US National team member, Eryk Williamson, being stretchered off the field with an injury after less than ten minutes of play. In good form, Seattle fans politely clapped him off the field. Then proceeded to watch their team still lose. While several Seattle chances would come off the crossbar and many more would be batted away by Portland keeper Steve Clark, the number one team in the Western Conference just had no finish.

Portland, on the other hand, were able able to get two past Sounders keeper Stefan Cleveland. The first from Blanco in the 58th, the second from Felipe Mora in second half stoppage when he chipped the keeper.
