With two key players out, the Timbers had to come out strong to have a chance at another championship – and come out strong they did. By the 5th minute they had their game winning goal when Felipe Mora cleaned up a loose ball in the box. For good measure, Santiago Moreno put in a second for the Timbers in the 61st. The celebrations on and off the pitch lasted well into the night.

The last hurdle for Portland will be NYFC, who they’ll face at home this Saturday, in the MLS Final.
