Photo Recap: OL Reign (5) v Houston Dash (1)

In a match where it felt like only one team fully showed up to the pitch, the OL Reign dominated the visiting Houston Dash 5-1. The scoring would start off in the 6th when Dash keeper, Lindsey Harris, came out too far in attempt to challenge Reign forward Bethany Balcer for the ball. Balcer would head the ball into the open net for her first of two goals on the night. Not too long after, Sofia Huerta danced around two Dash defenders to put the Reign up by two in the 19th. Houston would finally get on the board in the 30th, when Shea Groom’s pass deflected off of Alana Cook and into the net, technically ruled an own goal. Just five minutes later the Reign’s Eugénie Le Somme would get that point back when she followed her own shot, which was initially saved by Harris, and scored off the rebound. The Reign weren’t done yet. Jess Fishlock got into the action, blasting a shot from near half that tucked perfectly into the upper left corner, making it 4-1 in the 42nd. The final goal would come from the same person who opened the scoring, Bethany Balcer, when she put one more past Harris in first half stoppage.

So in the end, the OL Reign would score six goals, and win five to one. The Reign now stand fifth in the league and will head to Kansas City while the Dash stand in eighth and will head home to face the Washington Spirit.
